Swiss broadcaster SRF reports, citing police, that a 29-year-old woman died after being buried by snow drift in Wallis. The group was hiking at a height of 2,700 meters in the St. Luc region where the accident took place. One hiker broke free and made an emergency call. All three were transported to the hospital where the woman died of her injuries.

This was the third deadly avalanche within a couple of days. Be careful if there has been avalanches in you area until conditions improve and avalanche danger drops.

The first 15 minutes

The chance of survival after being buried by an avalanche is ca 80% in the first 15 minutes. After this the chance drop dramatically.
